The word cosmonaut comes from the Greek words ‘kosmos', meaning 'universe' and 'nautes' meaning 'sailor.' Since Russia uses it to describe their space people, I should probably find another one.
A phrase perhaps. Something less vague, unclaimed and formal, like “seekers of the unknown,” or “explorers of self.” But word-making has been passionately covered by thousands of people, and they really knocked it out of the park with cosmonaut.
Consider this a remix of the remix.
Cosmonauts are people that have discovered the universe within themselves and sail the cosmic depths of being rather than the choppy seas of the dream.
The dream, huh. Yep, the dream that we believe based on cold hard facts. Look around. Smell around. Lick things. Hear things. Touch yourself. It’s all a big dream, baby!
It’s the nature of our consciousness to dream. We dream when we sleep and we dream while we’re awake. The only difference is, when we’re awake we live in this dream.
If you were to fall asleep and dream a world, that creation would be, and when you awoke, it would not be. Through you it came to be and without you it’s gone, poof.
Or maybe all dreamscapes are established in this infinite universe, just waiting for us to take our night-time tours.
When we sleep we explore or visit or heal or learn or just perceive things for the heck of it. When we’re awake though, it’s the same old dream happening over and over again. What gives!?
What gives is that this dream is populated with other consciousnesses like ours, other creators of dreams. And just as the creation of our dream people/creatures/landscapes seem separate from us, other people/creatures/landscapes seem separate from us in this one, too.
This dream is a mirage that we get to experience together. It is here for our benefit. It loves us and wants nothing more than for us to love us, despite our feelings about its methods.
Suffering is the greatest gift of the mirage. With suffering we begin to write stories about ourselves, our circumstances, nightmarishly daydreaming in the dream.
Suffering is a process of waking up. Only when we settle into ourselves and sort unreal from real do we open our eyes to some even more powerful sh*t.
This is where the cosmonauts come in.
While the world seemingly crumbles and teeters on collapse in the middle of a potential nuclear war, the cosmonauts set sail to discover truth.
FUNNY FEELINGS IN THE FINAL HOUR
It’s all out there happening. Worlds richest yeehaw their way to space. Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at Oscars for insulting Jada Pinkett Smith with a G.I. Jane joke.
Tensions flare as the #1 nuclear power jocks for position over the #2 nuclear power. Death and despair continues to spike worldwide.
“Warp speed” science. Undisclosed travel logs to Epstein Island. UFO’s, or UAP’s as they say nowadays.
Heavy stuff, whether it’s a dream or not. It isn’t there to drag us down or freak us out, though. To the cosmonaut, the world is here for us to experience and make choices.
Choices are the purpose of this weird realm. It’s always been like this. There’s a spectrum, from choices made out of pure, pristine love to choices made out of impure, shattered love.
This experience is all love, by degrees. But some choices/decisions/actions/words feel better, more “aligned,” or “right” or “energizing.”
Cosmonauts seek authentic, unencumbered beingness as Jason sought the Golden Fleece. From that place it is believed that love can be felt and given at the highest degree.
Love isn’t some vanilla, la de da, thing. It’s an infinite shapeshifting force that moves us to feel and speak and touch with grace and sensitivity. But with our heavy load of beliefs and limitations we get the ditch weed and flat beer version of love, at best.
It’s all perception, by degrees, too. How we perceive the dream is on a spectrum from oneness to separation.
Closer to oneness perception and loving choices are made, beautifully honest words are spoken and presence is deeply felt.
Closer to separation perception and desperate choices are made, lies are abundant and presence is scarce.
The cosmonaut intends on moving the needle of love and perception to pristine love and oneness. The purpose of their efforts is to become clear and aware, to become the dreamer rather than the dreamed.
The source of this dream that we share is the perennial curiosity of the cosmonaut. Through the process of expansion, the shifting, dialing-in, cutting out, letting go, aspects of it, one feels closer to that source.
The highest achievement that our inner exploration/work/process can give our outer self is the perception that the choppy seas of the dream are flawless. Nothing out of place.
What would we think, do, say, feel, if we perceived no flaws in this world and in ourselves? Pure presence is the cosmonaut’s goal, because without obstruction we automatically live and find joy and serve others.
The end of the old dream is here. The darkness mingles with the absurd, manifesting weird times for us all. Weird times turn into funny feelings. Funny feelings turn into contemplations and meditations.
If we explore enough within, the weirdness outside of us doesn’t seem so bad. We learn in our own way that nothing can threaten us in this dream.
Let us seek as cosmonauts seek, by diving deep into the cosmic depths of self so that when enough of us see with crystal clear eyes, we may come together and re-dream this place into something sublime.
You've said so many things here that rang my bell in ways I needed, today. The ditch weed / flat beer love analogy had me rolling with laughter and understanding at the same time.
I feel when we are riding waves of unconditional love, it can be easy to forget that some folks have never tasted beyond the flat beer version. And they will have no experiential understanding of the ever-expanding world of the cosmonaut, which is deserving of compassion over anything else.
There is immense power here in your words. Thank you for sharing them at this time.
BTW, I started reading "Magical Passes" by Casteneda and it's my first taste of DJM's teachings in years. Man, this book is exactly what I need right now, and I thank YOU for the inspiration to pick it up.
